It's tough for the Australian squad to break new ground.

The highest peaks have long been mastered.

This is the team that has secured seven Cricket World Cups, plus six more T20 titles, and previously enjoyed 1,294 days without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The alternative records, targeted by the achievement hunters, are what's still available for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed as late as Sunday's success by three wickets over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase above 300, reclaiming their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the pitchers that have worn canary yellow over five decades.

It is hard for their batsmen to possess a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Some will argue the reasoning behind championship match pressure. Different voices suggest with the test that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was considerably tougher to see coming.

The New Zealand onslaught in 2022 occurred when she led the batting statistics, but this innings came after six matches in India since the start of last month in which she had not exceeded 30 runs.

"If you've been watching me in the nets, it was a challenging time because I feel like my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive instincts kick in and you just lock into the match."

Healy's competitiveness has always been her key asset - and a priceless quality in succeeding famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's rising star Kranti Gaud in last month's ODI series, fallen to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but this time it merely gave Healy's spark.

One run resulted off the bowler's initial ball and from that point Healy was underway.

"A chance to take the field and engage in competition with her and just have a bit of fun in that regard, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She reached fifty in 35 pitches - her fastest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she attacked short-pitched balls, hitting 21 fours and three maximums.

Once she was dismissed her side needed 66 additional runs at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," added Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to do it again but, if necessary, we know we can do it."

That comment will be the ultimate thing Australia's opponents at this championship want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107 run margin despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a match against traditional opponents England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may probably be guaranteed.

It was in the semi-finals they exited the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - an encounter Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the initial instance at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she later said she wanted to have participated despite the injury.

Yet even as she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this World Cup is expected to be her last as captain in one-day cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as skipper.

Victory in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
